Jim Boeheim nets his and Syracuse's first National Title by defeating the Kansas Jayhawks 81-78 in a game that went down to the wire. Syracuse started off on a record-setting pace by dropping in 53 points in the first half. Kansas was not going to go down without a fight cutting the lead to two-points with less than a minute to go. Syracuse's overwhelming defense was not to be denied down the stretch when Hakim Warrick blocks a Jayhawk 3-point attempt with a little over 1 second left in the game giving the Orangemen the win and the National Championship.
