Nominate SU Alumni & Teachers for Awards


Here is your opportunity to honor and recognize alumni and faculty of distinction.  Each year the Syracuse University Alumni Association presents SU alumni and teachers with special awards recognizing their accomplishments. These are some of the University’s most significant awards so please give thought to those people you think are deserving of this honor and then follow the instructions below to nominate them. The criteria for each award are listed below...

The George Arents Pioneer Medal is the highest award bestowed on our alumni. The purpose of this award is to honor alumni of Syracuse University who have achieved excellence in their field of endeavor, and who have demonstrated distinctive merit and steadfast loyalty to the ideals of the University. This award is presented annually at on campus and off campus venues.
Nomination deadline is June 4, 2007 for award year 2008.   To submit your nomination for 2008, please click here.
Past award recipients

The Melvin A. Eggers Senior Alumni Award serves to recognize our senior alumni who have exhibited loyalty and service to their alma mater. The nominees must have already celebrated their 50th class reunion. The award is presented at the annual Half-Century Dinner.
Nomination deadline is June 4, 2007 for award year 2007.

Past award recipients


The Outstanding Alumni Award is presented each year to Syracuse University alumni. This award honors alumni for service and loyalty to their alma mater. It offers the opportunity to honor not only the prominent achievers, but also the unsung "champions." The award recognizes an individual's outstanding service to the University, and may also include their civic and career achievements. Examples of service can include, but are not limited to, volunteering as a club or council leader, serving on university-related advisory boards, and otherwise supporting the needs and goals of the University and its community. This award is presented during Homecoming Weekend held each year in the fall.
Nomination deadline is June 4, 2007 for award year 2007.

The Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years for their service and loyalty to their alma mater. The award recognizes an individual's outstanding service to the University, and may also include their civic and career achievements. Examples of service can include, but are not limited to, volunteering as a club or council leader, serving on university-related advisory boards, and otherwise supporting the needs and goals of the University and its community. This award is presented during Homecoming Weekend held each year in the fall.

The Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes a Syracuse University professor who has not only exemplified an exceptional talent for teaching, but who has also developed nurturing relationships with his/her students through counseling, mentoring, sound direction, and advice. This award is a recognition of distinction and dedication in teaching, and is presented during Homecoming Weekend each year.
