Among the site's content are Virginia Tech informational links, a growing list of remembrance activities planned on the SU campus, a Q&A about SU security and emergency procedures, and public messages from Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor.

The site is readily accessible via the SU home page (
http://www.syr.edu) and the Syracuse University News site (http://sunews.syr.edu).

Those who have suggestions for additional content should contact SU News Services at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

On behalf of the GBSUAC, I have sent an email expressing our sympathies and condolences to the local area VT alumni club...expressing that our thoughts and prayers are with them....

We need your help for GBSUAC's upcoming Annual Career Night in Boston on Tuesday, June 5th, 2007!!!

Please consider serving as one of many "career hosts" for one of the paths below...

This will be an evening of fun, learning and networking with opportunities for both recent SU grads of the Class of 2007 and SU alumni.  While the complete details are still being worked out, there will be two simultaneous paths for participants to choose from, followed by a reception for everyone...

       1) Class of 2007 graduates - A Welcome to Boston guide led by alumni career host volunteers, including the who, what, where, when and why's of Beantown, interviewing and finding a job strategies, developing your resume and more.

       2) Alumni Networking - A networking event for the opportunity to meet other alumni within your industry and profession by participating in round-table discussions led by alumni career host volunteers. Bring your business card and connect with other SU alum in the area!

We are looking for alumni to assist us with this career event.  Please consider serving as a career host for the evening for one of the paths above.  For more information on the roles of a career host or additional details on the event, please Contact Us (at the menu on the left) and send us an email!!  Please include your name, year of graduation, industry/profession, and any other relevant details.

Hurry, Save the Date... and let us know if you would like to attend Career Night as a career host or send us a quick reply if you would like to just attend the event as a participant to network with other alumni. We hope to see you there, it is going to be the biggest event of the year, so reply now!

(Brought to you by the Greater Boston SU Alumni Club, SU Center for Career Services and SU Office of Alumni Relations.)

National Orange Day 3.24.07 @ Greater Boston Food Bank Print
Written by Kristen Krikorian
Monday, 26 March 2007

13 Boston area alumni celebrated National Orange Day on Saturday, March 24th, 2007 (the official date Syracuse University was founded) by volunteering at the Greater Boston Food Bank...

The afternoon began with a social pizza party (courtesy of Bertucci's).  Then after a short training, volunteers inspected, sorted and repacked donated grocery products that are then distributed to hunger relief agencies.  With our help and the other 96 volunteers at the Food Bank that afternoon, we were able to provide meals for over 12,750 people!  We sorted over 20,600 pounds of food!  Each of our volunteers sorted 152 pounds of food, making 117 meals possible for volunteer!  It was a fun, and productive, day!!  Check out the pictures in the Photos section!

Thanks for all your help and Happy Orange Day!!  :-)

The Food Bank distributes 24 million pounds of food annually to hundreds of hunger relief agencies in a dedicated partnership to feed our region's hungry.  Please visit them online for more information at www.gbfb.org.

ALSO....

As you may recall, a Syracuse alumni started a blog last year:

www.givingbacktosu.com, that details events and news about Syracuse and its alumni that give back to SU through their time, talents and treasure.

The site has been used to publicize events around the country and to post photos and stories about the events. A National Orange Day website was created to do just that:
