The weather might not actually feel like it, but summer is here! And here's an update on some past and upcoming Boston Orange events...
Our 3rd annual SUccess in the City: Career and Networking event on June 9th was a huge success! We had 250 registrants and many great connections were made throughout the night! Congratulations to our newest Boston alumni from the Class of 2009! Special thanks to our sponsors for the evening - TRO Jung Brannen for hosting us in their offices and Officeworks!
We also held 2 very successful informal networking nights this winter with upto 100 alumni registering for each event - February in Boston and April in Wellesley. We would love to continue to do these ever so important events but we need alumni to host them! Let us know if you can host a simple networking evening in your office, conference room, restaurant, bar, or even home! We are currently looking for hosts to hold an event in September and November.
Don't forget to check out the pictures from SUccess in the City that have been posted online to the left in the Photos section!
We have officially changed our name from the long and cumbersome GBSUAC to just BOSTON ORANGE. We held a logo design contest and received over 20 entries from SU alumni. Alumni voted for their favorite on our website and the winner was unveiled at the SUccess in the City
event - Dara Deliegro, '05. Congratulations Dara! All of our Club communications will be changing to adapt the new logo over the next couple of weeks.
Our next event is the New Student Send-Off for the incoming SU freshmen of the Class of 2013! We are looking for volunteers - to help out at the event by answering questions of the new students and their parents, as well as to help make phone calls to the incoming class to invite them to the event. The event will be held at Hopkinton State Park on Sunday, August 2nd, 2009 from 1-4pm (volunteers should arrive at noon to help set-up). Please email us if you are interested in volunteering at the event or by making calls! We need your help to make this event a success, especially the more recent graduates who know what SU is like more recently!
We also held all of our SU men's basketball game watching events this winter at the official Boston Orange sports bar - The Pour House on Boylston Street. Check out the pictures in the Photo section to the left. Pictures of the pre-premiere of The Express movie event from October about Ernie Davis have also finally been posted!

Tuesday, 19 August 2008 |
The Arts Council of Boston is a group of Syracuse University alumni in the Boston area who meet on a regular basis with the goal of engaging alumni in the region through the arts. The council meets to discuss venues, topics, programs (scholarship in action), star alumni (community of experts) to be showcased through alumni events in the region. The council intends to work closely with the Boston Orange club to maximize this outreach effort.
Recent Events:
- Ken Myers Concert Legal Seafood
- Gallery reception, John Thompson gallery.
- Gallery reception, Rosemary Broton Boyle’s gallery.
- Support of Chancellor’s visit along with Boston Orange club - many alumni heard the Arts Council mentioned at this event and evidenced interest in learning more about the group
We are in the process of planning two events for fall ’08 and another two events for spring ’09.
The next Arts Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 from Noon - 1pm.
